I got into Korean skincare about 6 months ago, and some of these products have been my introduction to it (thanks to skinfluencing ;). My skin turned out be normal-ish, but was dehydrated and sensitized after years with harsh cleansers and stuff. Gentler, Korean products have been a total game changer for my skin!
The Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner was perfectly soothing and hydrating during the summer months (I used 2-3 layers), but I had to switch to something a bit more hydrating when the temperatures lately have dropped below 0*C.
Initially I was a bit weary of Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, because of animal welfare and, well… snail slime?!? But it is such a gentle, hydrating and (for me) healing product, that I keep using it every day still. And apparently the snails are not harmed.
A few weeks ago, I decided my skin barrier was robust enough to try vit A, so I tried the Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum, as an eye cream. The first couple of times I used it, my skin looked a bit fragile and tired for a few days after. But then, my under eye skin started looking fabulous! I use this twice a week now, in the evening, and I’ve gotten so many compliments on my skin! Encouraged by that success, I tried The Ordinary’s Granactive Retinoid 2% emulsion all over my face and neck, but that was way to harsh: I got slightly pink, with a tingling sensation in my cheeks for a whole week after that. So I’m thinking of just using the Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum all over for the time being. I think that is enough for me. Especially because I want to introduce vit C and copper peptides at some point as well, and don’t want to disrupt the skin barrier that I’ve finally restored.
